Our Actions
Impacted by declining birth rates and social transformation, the construction industry often relies on migrant workers to fill labor shortages. For example, Kedge employs approximately 350 migrant workers from Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia across Taiwan. To support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Kedge, in collaboration with Yang Yun International, Epicenter Industries, and ‘1905 Immigrant Workers Cultural Association,’ organized the special exhibition titled ‘Weaving Paths: The Landscape of Migrant Workers’ Lives’ in November 2023. This exhibition aims to familiarize the public with migrant workers’ lives in Taiwan, covering aspects from cuisine to consumption, beliefs, and literature, thereby fostering respect and creating a sustainable society.
Creating DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion): ‘Friendly Workplace’ has been a recent goal actively promoted by Kedge. Through language and photography courses, Southeast Asian colleagues can pursue personal growth after work hours. This exhibition is organized to enhance friendly communication and relationships among colleagues from different nations.
Execution Approach
The exhibition is divided into four main themes: ‘Food Weaving Paths,’ ‘Consumption Weaving Images,’ ‘Faith Weaving Images,’ and ‘Reading Weaving Scenery,’ showcasing impressions of migrant workers’ lives. It serves not only as an exhibition but also as an opportunity to rethink and adjust interactions with migrant workers.
Highlight Introduction
In the ‘Moving Weaving Paths’ consumption area, special features include products from two major Southeast Asian supermarket brands: BIG KING Group, offering goods from Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, and CLC Group, providing mailing services.
Within the exhibition area, selected products from Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand are presented, including staple foods, seasonings, beverages, instant noodles, perfumes, soaps, and gourmet snacks, illustrating the consumption lifestyle of migrant workers in Taiwan.
