Human Rights Policy

Human Rights Maintenance

Kindom Construction Corp. supports and maintains basic human rights, recognizing and adhering to the spirit and fundamental principles of internationally recognized human rights protections such as the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” the “United Nations Global Compact,” and the “International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.” We strictly comply with labor-related regulations where we operate, eliminating any acts that infringe or violate human rights, ensuring that everyone within and outside the company is treated fairly and with dignity.

To implement workplace diversity and avoid discrimination based on any condition, we strive to create a dignified, safe, equal, and harassment-free working environment. The practices of Kindom Construction Corp. are as follows:

Anti-Discrimination in Personnel Policies, Merit-Based Employment

To effectively promote a fair and equal recruitment mechanism, employing units must not set unfair recruitment conditions such as race, gender, or age. In 2023, we further established competency standards for engineers at all levels, with related recruitment, probation, assessment, promotion, and salary adjustments based on their competencies, performance, and cultural fit. Employment is merit-based, providing colleagues with consistent and fair opportunities for promotion and development.

Strengthening Human Rights Concepts for All Colleagues

All new colleagues must participate in orientation training, where they receive an introduction and explanation of the company’s relevant systems and regulations, including various personnel policies, regulations, and occupational safety and health laws. They are also reminded that the company’s EIP portal provides access to all policies and procedures. The employee assistance section contains various complaint and support information, and the training system continuously offers human rights-related courses to reinforce colleagues’ awareness and understanding of human rights.

Establishing a Safe and Healthy Work Environment

We conduct regular fire drills, emergency response training, first aid training, and general occupational safety and health education activities at the company and various construction sites. Safety personnel monitor workplace safety in compliance with regulations, reducing the risk of occupational accidents. Occupational health personnel manage colleagues’ health based on annual health examination data, combined with occupational medical care and on-site services, ensuring colleagues’ physical and mental health and safety at work.

EAP Policy Focused on Colleague Needs

To effectively provide resources to colleagues, the company has set up an employee assistance section on the website, offering consultation through various channels. Collaboration among HR, occupational safety, occupational health, finance, and legal departments addresses colleagues’ urgent or special assistance needs, providing initial solutions and support, and integrating other resources for more effective help or advice on specific issues.

Supervision and Audit Mechanisms to Ensure Unhindered Policy Implementation

To ensure that every colleague is free from discrimination and unfair treatment at work, Kindom Construction offers multiple, convenient complaint and reporting channels, including paper, phone, fax, email, and the internal Teams system for reporting or complaints. If violations of the “Code of Conduct for Ethical Business Operations” or other company regulations (e.g., sexual harassment, improper management) are found, a special investigation team with different functions will be established according to the regulations to complete the investigation within the specified time. If the reported content is confirmed, disciplinary actions will be taken according to the employee reward and punishment regulations or relevant laws. To ensure the proper functioning of the system, the company holds ISO certification and conducts regular internal audits to ensure that all systems and procedures are executed according to relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the smooth operation of every activity and aspect of Kindom Construction.

Preventive Policies

To implement human rights, the company has established human rights policies, measures for preventing and punishing sexual harassment, measures for preventing workplace violence due to actions of others, occupational safety and health policies, and a complaint mailbox. Human rights-related training courses are regularly offered in the training system. Colleagues can report opinions or illegal incidents via phone, email, or related contact mechanisms. A dedicated department handles and responds to these reports, completing the investigation process according to formal procedures to ensure fair and just handling of the reported content.

Measures for Preventing and Punishing Sexual Harassment

Kindom Construction clearly defines “Measures for Preventing and Punishing Sexual Harassment” and provides a dedicated phone line and email for complaints. Colleagues subjected to sexual harassment can file complaints in writing or orally. If a sexual harassment case or suspected case occurs, a Sexual Harassment Complaint Handling Committee will be formed confidentially and initiate an investigation procedure, with at least half of the committee members being female colleagues. Complaints should be concluded within two months of filing. If the investigation confirms the complaint, disciplinary actions will be taken according to the work rules and employee reward and punishment regulations.

Risk Assessment

In 2023, a human rights risk assessment was conducted on various human rights issues, including non-discriminatory employment, prohibition of child labor and forced labor, ensuring freedom of association, maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, balancing work and life, valuing labor relations, establishing a complaint mechanism, ensuring information security and privacy protection, promoting workplace inclusion and equality, and prohibiting workplace sexual harassment. Based on feedback from 90% of colleagues, the issues with higher risks were work-life balance and labor relations. Communication and feedback at labor-management meetings were strengthened to mitigate these risks.

Prevention Measures for Physical or Mental Harm Caused by Others (Workplace Violence Prevention)

Apart from sexual harassment, Kindom also implements measures to prevent workplace violence that may cause physical or mental harm due to official duties or work factors, whether at the workplace or other locations. Any form of physical, psychological, verbal, or sexual harassment is not permitted within the company. If an employee encounters workplace violence, they can report it to their supervisors or the HR department. Following a formal investigation, if the report is verified, disciplinary actions will be taken in accordance with work rules and the employee reward and punishment regulations.

Occupational Safety and Health Policy

Through collaboration between the Occupational Safety Office, occupational health personnel, and supervisors at all levels, Kindom aims to create a safe, healthy, and comfortable work environment. The company is committed to complying with regulations, preventing hazards, involving all employees, and continuously improving to achieve a zero-harm, zero-accident work environment. Additionally, occupational health personnel manage company health check data, track individuals requiring care, and conduct health management tracking through the company app.

Education and Training

To promote understanding of the importance of human rights among employees, Kindom includes explanations of various human rights-related policies and regulations during new employee orientation. The company also utilizes its education and training system to offer human rights courses, encouraging employees to participate in these courses anytime, anywhere. In 2023, five online human rights courses were set up, covering topics such as sexual harassment prevention and avoiding workplace bullying. Additionally, psychologists were invited to conduct online courses discussing human rights considerations in online contexts, reinforcing employees’ awareness of human rights and their ability to protect themselves in a simple and engaging manner.
