Innovative Technologies and Services

Development and Innovation

The main research and development focus of Kedge Construction lies in the effort to shorten the construction period, improve construction methods, reduce pollution and improve efficiency. We conduct research and refinement on the workflow composed of information software and hardware, and the working methods of innovative technology, to achieve “improving quality, increasing efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing image.”

New technologies and R&D methods are developed by the Technology R&D Department, Information Department, and other departments, or jointly introduced with collaborative suppliers to enhance our competitiveness. In recent years, in addition to the research and refinement of construction technology, the ERP system has achieved remarkable results. It has been implemented and used to manage and integrate the company’s core business processes and resources. The construction management system has improved the efficiency of project management on construction sites. Currently, the overall informatization engineering operation continues to be introduced into various departments and construction sites with a cloud-based service model.

In response to the latest trends in domestic occupational accidents, and to enhance safety and disaster prevention technology, government departments are using information technology and innovative analytical methods to build a disaster prevention database. On this basis, our company is dedicated to improving safety assessment and intelligent monitoring technology to achieve precise disaster prevention goals.

In addition to informatization, we have been committed to the development of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and even extended to the promotion of CIM (Civil Information Modeling). In the process of the BIM development, for providing information to the BIM model, or extracting information from the BIM model for various use, all kinds of software and hardware deploy BIM as the carrier, and take “digital twin” as the central idea to provide various possibilities and solutions, such as AR, VR, MR, drones, image processing, IoT, etc., so that participants can create diverse possibilities, extract them and transform them into execution plans for strengthening the enterprise’s technical foundation.

2024 Annual R&D Investment and Technology Innovation Plan

Kedge Construction operates within the comprehensive construction industry, with R&D activities primarily focused on reducing construction timelines, improving construction methodologies, minimizing environmental pollution, and enhancing operational efficiency. Construction method and production technology improvements are developed internally by the Technology Research Department or through technology transfer partnerships with collaborative vendors.

In recent years, beyond strengthening comprehensive computerization initiatives, engineering management systems have been implemented to enhance management efficiency. Currently, all construction sites have achieved full system implementation. For fiscal year 2025, optimization efforts will continue with active execution of the following initiatives, requiring an estimated investment of approximately NT$14 million in human resources and operational support.

Future R&D Initiatives

In recent years, the Group has actively promoted ESG sustainable development while dedicating efforts to enhancing technological innovation and intelligent transformation within the construction industry. However, as the construction industry confronts challenges including labor shortages, construction site safety management complexities, and elevated building quality standards, the adoption of digital technologies and automated construction methodologies has emerged as a critical strategy for industrial transformation. The Group actively implements low-carbon construction technologies including aluminum formwork and precast construction methods. Through standardized and modular operations, these approaches reduce waste generation from traditional formwork construction, not only minimizing carbon emissions and reducing construction timelines, but also decreasing on-site labor requirements while effectively enhancing construction safety and quality. Furthermore, precast technology applications enable improved component precision through factory prefabrication, simultaneously reducing on-site construction variables and enhancing building structural stability and durability. Regarding digital transformation, the Group plans to implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to advance construction automation and improve overall construction efficiency and management effectiveness. For instance, utilizing BIM+AI technology research and implementing BIM + Dynamo visualization programming technology enables automated execution of repetitive operations, reduces human input errors, and ensures BIM model consistency. Additionally, occupational safety management will incorporate image recognition inspection systems to continuously enhance
occupational safety management practices.

Kedge Construction actively participates in various exhibitions and industry forums, engaging with professionals across the sector to continuously update technical expertise and expand strategic thinking regarding future possibilities. Examples include AI integration with BIM and construction automation research, enhancing overall competitiveness and propelling the construction industry toward a new era of intelligent and sustainable development.

BIM Sustainable Action

Through the research, development, and application of BIM, we actively carry out inter-departmental and inter-disciplinary cooperation, and strive to achieve the goal of reducing carbon and waste and conserving resources. We respond to sustainability-related issues with four main aspects, including “reducing cost,” “improving work efficiency,” “deepening the use of information,” and “exploring the future of engineering”.
