Planting Roots for Generations: Kedge Begins Afforestation Journey

Kedge Construction has officially launched its 20-year “Forest for the Future” initiative in Chiayi’s Caoshan area on Earth Day, in collaboration with the Chiayi Forest District Office, the Railway Bureau’s Central Region Engineering Office, and local Xinmei and Caoshan communities. The program focuses on ecological restoration and the conservation of the endemic Cicada Formotosena montivaga, making it a milestone in Kedge’s ESG journey. Beyond afforestation, the initiative extends to environmental education and parent-child learning activities such as “Forest as Home,” “Cicada Ecology,” and “Tree Scientist,” encouraging families and local residents to connect with nature and sustainability across generations. Designed with local youth group Chulo Design Lab, the program blends storytelling, natural settings, and interactive experiences to inspire children to imagine living in harmony with forests. Senior Vice President Fan Jin-hua emphasized that this journey is not just about learning, but about rethinking respect and support within families, bringing the spirit of sustainability into daily life.
