Problems Addressed
The origin of the Repair and Recycle Program addresses the long-term “shortage of professional repair personnel” problem faced by remote disadvantaged areas. Although government departments can provide assistance, resource coordination usually takes too long, making it difficult to quickly respond to the urgent needs of disadvantaged groups. Through Kedge’s provision of professional supplier management services, suitable contractors can be quickly found, thereby helping disadvantaged families solve the dilemma of being unable to afford repairs.
Our Actions
Since the launch of the “Repair and Recycle Program” in 2021, it has gradually developed into a “public welfare platform” model, committed to helping more disadvantaged groups improve their living conditions through collaboration and resource integration. Kedge is responsible for contacting cases with repair needs and working closely with supply chains and social welfare organizations to complete various repair work together. This collaborative model not only improves resource utilization efficiency but also ensures the sustainable development of the program. When facing disasters or emergencies, Kedge responds immediately to calls, quickly mobilizes resources from all parties, advances into disaster areas, and provides urgently needed support to affected families, demonstrating care and responsibility for society.
Social Return on Investment (SROI) Research Results
The Repair and Recycle Program commissioned KPMG and National Sun Yat-Sen University to conduct SROI analysis, with repair investments of NT$1.19 million (2022) and NT$2.9 million (2023). Research shows SROI increased from 7.62 to 8.1, indicating that collaboration and resource integration enhance the impact of public welfare repairs. The greatest benefit for recipients was “spiritual satisfaction” (44.27%), followed by “improved living environment” (26.66%) and “enhanced family interaction” (10.74%). Employee and family benefits can be sustained for two and three years respectively. The SROI total value of service providers’ “sense of achievement” and “increased empathy” was 1.28, accounting for 15.8% of overall benefits, showing that the Repair and Recycle Program not only has significant impact on recipients but also promotes the growth and social contribution of service providers, bringing positive virtuous cycles.
